To honour the 830 lives we will lose every day this year due to complications in pregnancy and childbirth, runners and walkers around the world will complete 8.30 mi/km on 8/30 (30th August) to help improve birth care.
Complete the distance in one go or break it up over the weekend. Whether you choose miles or kilometres, registration is just $5 or $10. 100% of your registration will be donated to Every Mother Counts.
Every day, an average of 830 people will not survive pregnancy or childbirth, and thousands more will suffer from long-term disabilities. Yet, with consistent access to transportation, education and supplies – we can prevent these outcomes.
While there are many obstacles faced by pregnant and birthing people when accessing care, distance alone presents one of the greatest barriers. In many parts of the world, people have to walk an average of 8 miles to reach the nearest public health facility – even while pregnant or in labor. Every Mother Counts runs so those people can reach the care they need.
